Elmer D. Yost founded Dixie Realty & Loan Co. At the time, Yost was the executive secretary of the YMCA. "He had a lot of friends in the community," says his son, Eddie Yost. "He always enjoyed the real estate business."

Ford Little married Elmer Yost's daughter, Betty. In 1948, Yost asked his son-in-law to go into business with him, so Dixie Realty became Yost & Little Realty.

Eddie Yost came to Yost & Little after his graduation from Duke University with a business degree. In 1961, Yost & Little incorporated. Ford Little became president, Elmer Yost became vice president and Eddie Yost became secretary/treasurer. Little remained in that position until 1986, when Eddie Yost became president.

The family leadership continues into a third generation. In 1982,Eddie Yost's son, Mark Yost joined Yost & Little. In 1983, Ford Little's son, Dean, joined Yost & Little. 1986 - Eddie Yost becomes president, Mark Yost becomes vice-president, and Dean Little becomes secretary/treasurer.

Says Eddie Yost, Ford has provided good leadership, ideas and guidance. These have been handed down. There's always been a good working relationship throughout the history of this company.

"Yost & Little enjoys a very good reputation in this community," Ford Little says. "People know they're going to get honest and fair treatment. To treat people the way we want to be treated is our whole foundation. And we have made it a point to have salespeople who have that philosophy."

Yost & Little has shown a pattern of steady growth over the years serving Guilford and Forsyth Counties, Greensboro, Summerfield, Jamestown, High Point, Winston Salem, and the surrounding areas of NC.

In 1996, to add to the main office at North Elm Street, Yost & Little purchased Baker Realty, therefore establishing an office on W. Main Street in Jamestown NC and joining the High Point Regional Association of REALTORS®.

In 2004, Yost & Little purchased Adams Farm Realty to establish their third office location and providing an additional real estate presence to the Southwest area of Greensboro NC on Adams Farm Parkway. During this year, the company also joined the Burlington Board of REALTORS®, positioning itself to capitalize on the growth potential of eastern Guilford County.

In 2005 the company purchased Seawell REALTORS® to give Yost & Little its fourth real estate office in the Triad on West Market Street in Greensboro North Carolina.

In 2006 the partnership between Yost & Little and Henson Realty began. This union has created a strong northwest Guilford County presence. This is the fifth real estate office in the Triad located in Summerfield NC, in the Hoskins House, across the street from Summerfield Elementary School.

In 2007, the company established an office in Winston-Salem, again positioning itself to expand into Forsyth County, therefore, completing an entire Triad area presence. This office becomes the sixth and newest, located at 4505 Country Club Road, and joined the Winston-Salem Regional Association of REALTORS®.

With all of this expansion, Yost & Little is pleased to have a total of real estate agents and staff in excess of 200 serving Guilford and Forsyth Counties, Greensboro, Summerfield, Jamestown, High Point, Winston Salem, and the surrounding areas of NC.

Yost & Little is proud of the fact that it has remained independent for eight decades.

Greensboro NC has been a good location for Yost & Little, Mark Yost says. "Greensboro is located centrally between Raleigh and Charlotte," he says. "It's halfway between Washington and Atlanta, and halfway between New York and Florida. It's a good, East Coast central location."
